Engineers have designed a new system to help cool buildings in crowded metro areas without consuming electricity. This is an important innovation as cities learn ways to adapt to climate changes. The system consists of "special material - an inexpensive polymer/aluminum film" that's installed at the bottom of a box as "a specially designed solar 'shelter.'" The film helps keep surroundings cool by absorbing the heat from the air in the box and then transmitting that energy through the atmosphere into outer space. Read more...
